  2. I enjoyed Man on Wire (it's a documentary, but a really well done one) and 500 Days of Summer ("This is not a love story. This is a story about love.").

  4. -Underground (a fantastic Serbian film set throughout the latter half of the twentieth century. Utterly fascinating and darkly hilarious.)

-Primer (be prepared to watch this one at least twice.)

-lots of Werner Herzog movies (I would particularly recommend Fitzcarraldo (and the documentary made about the making of Fitzcarraldo, Burden of Dreams), The White Diamond, and Grizzly Man

-Werckmeister Harmonies (a Hungarian masterpiece. shot in just a few long, gorgeous black and white shots. a very intense movie)

-Dark Days (a documentary about a town of homeless people in NYC subway tunnels)

-Let the Right One In (a vampire movie that's actually really good. and it's Swedish)

-The Triplets of Belleville (perhaps my favorite movie. I own the DVD. If anyone wants to watch it, I will watch it with you.)

That's all for now. I don't want to give away all of my secrets at once...

  5. Oh yeah, Primer! I'll second that one. I meant to include it on my list but had trouble posting originally and forgot about it. We should probably have a group viewing and discussion.
